Wild Things on the Forest Floor

In Wild Things on the Forest Floor, I wanted to show the wildlife that is all over and people just walk past if there are not looking carefully.  Also I wanted to paint some of the lesser cared for animals.  These animals might be considered lower positions of the food web but they all are important to a stable environment.  All the animals in the scene are nocturnal or mainly so. The Pacific tree frog, the Dusty foot Woodrat and finally the California Pionus of the Beetle order all lives in the Coniferous Forests of the Pacific Northwest.

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas completed January 18, 2004.
