This painting is of a Anise Swallowtail which is one of the first butterflies seen early summer in the Pacific Northwest. The puffy flowers behind the butterfly were painted abstractly so not to distract from the main focal point of this painting. The blue spots on the wings were painted with a mica based paint in order to capture the irridessent quality of the blue on the wings.
This 16 x 20 painting was completely during the summer of 2004 and retails for $452 framed in a 3" black wood frame with liner.
