This painting is a play on the idea of what a person sees while lying on the ground and the secret life of bugs. I painted them almost as a background--in the way that when in nature, we often first see the flowers and then notice the little bits of life going around them. The subtleness adds a bit of realistic whimsy to the piece. There are two ladybugs and of course the spider in her web between the two stems. Finished in Winter of 2004.
